Myt third experience with basic English students third period

Describe
On May 26th, it was my last teaching practice with Basic English students in UNICAES. Students were around 24 in total. It was around 09:10 am. The sitting arrangement was in a horse shoe way. The classroom was appropriate to the number of students. My tutor was sitting at one side in classroom. I was developing the last activity. Students were looking at me, and I was asking them to write five sentences on their notebooks, by using the vocabulary that we had already studied in the class. Some of them were not so happy to do some, and I had to push them to do it and they tried. I give them enough time to do the activity, and while they were writing their sentences, I was monitoring them. When most of them had finished, I asked them to share their sentences with the rest of the class. I gave the chance to each student to share at list one sentence, so one by one were sharing their sentence, and I was correcting some grammar mistakes when one by one finished to read his/her sentence. There were two students that did not write anything by the moment I asked their sentence, so I pushed those to do it meanwhile other students were sharing their. At the end all students shared their sentence and they used the vocabulary that was taught them.

I noticed that students do not like to write sentences.

Based on what I observed, I think all students do not like too much to write.

The will encourage my students about the importance of the written practice, and help them to do it.
I observed that two students were not writing anything when it was asked to do it.
It is important that all students get involved on the activities developed.
I will give always push my students to get involved on the activities.

  1. Hi Francis.!
I like the horse shoe sitting arragement, I believe that is a way to get students attention. As a recommendation, I can say that we, as future teachers, have to look the way to make students particpate but without pushing them too much; I know that sometimes it can be so difficult but we must look for the correct way to do it.
